Mission

Mission

To work alongside rural Ugandan communities to enable comprehensive water, sanitation and hygiene development.

Objectives

• To improve the lives of the rural poor through the provision of safe and sufficient drinking water sources.

• To establish sustainable water source management structures.

• To educate communities in the importance of improved hygiene and sanitation, as well as providing technical support for the construction of household sanitation and hygiene facilities.

Guiding principles

  • Equality and compassion We are proud to reach out to all those in need, irrespective of their race, nationality, gender, religion, sexuality or age.

  • Community partnership Through working with people, not for them, we seek to empower individuals and communities to be fully involved in our projects and also  better equipped to manage long-term solutions themselves.

  • Holistic assistance We work at relationships, not just tasks, which enables us to take specific circumstances into account and personalise our assistance. This is important in respecting the independence and dignity of the communities we serve.

  • Integrity Busoga Trust values financial accountability and transparency very highly. Busoga Trust has strict financial controls and checks in place across our organisation. Our Ugandan and UK accounts are fully audited and consolidated and can be seen here.

  • Faith Whilst our staff hold a variety of faiths or none, we were founded as a Christian NGO. Jesus addressed peoples’ needs in a holistic manner, and so Busoga Trust, whilst not proselytising, aims to holistically serve the communities we partner with.
